Minimum age

The minimum age to enrol in the adult group courses is 16 years old.

Certificate of attendance

Student must attend at least 80% of the classes in order to be eligible for a certificate. The certificate must be ordered one week in advance and £5 fee will be charged for it.

Payment of the courses

Aberdeen Courses Ltd. provides the opportunity for students to make a tuition fee deposit of £50 if the student decides to pay three or more weeks before the course starting date. However if paying two weeks or less before the course starting date, the course fee must be paid in full, up front. If payment has not been received in full before the first class, the student will not be able to start the class.

Payment of private classes

Private lessons must be confirmed and paid one week in advance, at least by the Friday prior to the class. In the case of block booking the cost of the block must be paid in full one week in advance, at least by the Friday prior to the first lesson. Private classes, hours or block bookings will expire one year after the date of payment.

Payment by Bank Transfer

When making a payment by Direct Bank Transfer you must always use your course reference number (or your student ID number) as your bank payment reference. If you do not do this we may be unable to identify and confirm receipt of your payment. Please note that confirmation of payment will NOT be issued until the Payment Confirmation has been received by the bank (normally 2-5 days). Any transfer of funds to the Aberdeen Courses bank account from outside the United Kingdom may be subject to bank charges. All bank charges must be upheld by the student.

Administration fees

Aberdeen Courses will charge 20% of the total fees (courses and/or private tuition) for Administration for classes starting after the 1st. of September 2008. Books and other class material are exempt from administration fees.

Books and class material

The price of books is not included in the fee and all students studying for 3 weeks or longer must purchase the textbooks used in class. Private tuition students will be provided with class material; however, we reserve the right to ask students to purchase external material in the form of textbooks if the tutor considerate it necessary. The cost of such external material is not included in the fee.

Local and bank holidays

There will be no classes held on national, local or bank holidays (see Academic Calendar). If the student has enrolled in a course of eight weeks or less, Aberdeen Courses will make arrangements to ensure that the student do not lose classes that fall on national, local or bank holidays. If the student enrol in a course of nine or more weeks, any national, local or bank holiday that affect the classes are automatically accounted for in the payment made by the student, so no compensation or refund will be given after the payment. Private lessons that fall on national, local or bank holidays will be rescheduled.

Aberdeen Courses Ltd. can provide you with a "Confirmation of Student Enrolment Letter" that you have paid a deposit or full fee.
Private lessons policy

Times for private lessons are scheduled in accordance with the student, teacher and class room availability. Students are requested to arrive on time for class and in the case of illness and/or other unavoidable absence, inform the language centre as soon as possible. If the student arrives late 30 minutes or more after the start time, the class will be cancelled and the charges will incur as though the class had taken place. Missed private hours may be made up at a later date only if the student informs the language centre of his or her absence at least 24 hours before the scheduled time of the class. Absences with less than 24 hours notice will not be rescheduled or reimbursed. Times and dates for private lessons can be cancelled or rescheduled by the student only 24 hours in advance, in agreement with Aberdeen Courses Ltd. Business travel cost will apply to students who require teaching outside Aberdeen Courses' premises. The total travel cost will be a minimum amount plus the mileage cost between client's premises and the language centre times two per class. Please note, mileage cost applies only for training held outside of postal area AB10.

Cancellation

Aberdeen Courses Ltd. reserves the right to change course start dates, course curriculum and programmes at any time due to errors, omissions and circumstances beyond our control. Aberdeen Courses Ltd. reserves the right to cancel any scheduled group course, or to convert it into and an individual or mini-group (2-3 students) course of equivalent value, if the number of students enrolled in the course is less than the required minimum (4).

Delaying the course

You may delay your course for up to one year. If you wish to delay your course, you must inform the language centre, in writing, at least 2 weeks before the start of the course and your registration, deposit and/or fees will remain valid for a year.

Transfer of fees

Transfer of fees and/or deposit from one student to another is NOT permissible.

Refund Policy

All sums paid (deposit and/or fees) are non-refundable, except in the following cases:

In the cases detailed above the fees for the unused portion of the course will be refunded. In cases where the course is rescheduled prior to the start of the first class and the new date is unsuitable for the student, all fees and deposit will be refunded only if the student informs the language centre in writing at least 2 weeks before the new starting date otherwise registration will remain valid for the rescheduled course. No compensation or refunds will be given for late entry, early leave or absence from a course or a session. Periods of absence will not be made up with a free extension of the course.
Expulsion

The language centre reserves the right to expel, without refund of fees, any student who commits a criminal offence, displays gross or persistent misconduct in accordance with the language centre's disciplinary procedure or has a very poor attendance record.

Liability

Aberdeen Courses Ltd. will not be liable for any loss or injury sustained by students or staff within the Language Centre or elsewhere in the building, except where stipulated by the law.
